The Federation of European Irish Wolfhound clubs was founded in 1994 with the intention of fostering cooperation between those clubs that utilised the common Irish Wolfhound standard of the FCI. Some twenty years later we anticipate that Irish Wolfhound clubs outside of Europe will join with us; no longer will we be exclusively European so our logo and name must change to reflect our wider world.

Dear Friends,
 
This weekend Goos, Marcello and myself went to Ireland as it was the club show of IWCI. This had two reasons. First we wanted to apologize for the inconvenient that made them change the date of their show and thank the board of IWCI for their understanding.
 

 
It appeared that the French club, which is in charge of the next congress, put the dates for this congress on 9th and 10th of June, this due to the venue that was only available at that date. This caused majors changes. Many thanks to the Board, the Irish Kennel Club and our judge Tuula Savolainen for allowing all these changes.
 
 
 

But the most important reason for our coming is that we wanted to celebrate with you our decision to make Jim Behan the patron of the brand new FIWC before EIWC, together with Betty Murphy.
We tried to put this up together with the board of the Irish club and I I’m so happy that this comes true.
 
 

 
During the pause at noon we presented the new flag of FIWC and than gave this wonderful gift to Jim who was overwhelmed as he didn’t know a single word about our plans.
 
 
So now we have two patrons, or better as we say honorary presidents, Betty Murphy and Jim Behan, and we are grateful for all their advise and help and hope that both will stay as our mentors for long time.
